This song start out with a two-bar intro, and in this lesson we'll break down the part. We're in the key of C for this song and we're counting it in what's called 6/8. You probably know the 6/8 groove from the blues, which goes “1 2 3 4 5 6” and so on. Some people may count it in 12/8, which is the same as 6/8 only the bars are counted twice as long. It doesn't make a difference musically, but I personally find it's easier to verbalize all the subdivisions in 6/8.
