Description

Caren will show you how to strum an easy guitar part along with this classic blues tune. She will show you the three chords required to play along with the tune. This is required material for just about any blues jam, and in this tutorial we’ll learn an easy acoustic guitar part to strum along with the band!

The 12 bar blues form is fundamental to the genre, and has been used repeatedly for countless songs. But in this song we will be using a 14 bar structure, making the form a little bit crooked. This is a common occurrence in the blues genre, and might feel a bit counter intuitive at first. There’s only one section (the verse) to learn & play over & again. The intro, solo and outro all vamp on the I or G7 chord. We'll dig into both as our lessons progress.

Our song today has only has 3 chords: G7, C7, and D7. All bluesy dominant 7th chords. We'll be playing a lazy, shuffled strum over the standard feel native to most blues forms.

The form for our song today is as follows:

INTRO
VERSE
VERSE
VERSE
SOLO and OUT

GT has an authentic version of the song when you’re ready for the challenge!
