Description
You’ll need an electric guitar equipped with a humbucker pickup in the bridge position and locking tremolo, and an amp with overdrive. The guitar tone is distorted and doubled giving it a big rich tone with a touch of reverb, but I’ll show you how to get pretty close with whatever amp you have.
Since amp models and brands vary, start in the middle of the road with the gain/overdrive at 12 o’clock and adjust accordingly. A good rule of thumb is less distortion equals increased note clarity and definition. The solo will need a bit more gain for sustain, so consider increasing the amp overdrive about 20% or better yet use a distortion foot pedal. For EQ set bass at 11 o’clock, mid at 7 o’clock, and treble at 2 o’clock.
These settings should get you pretty close to the amp and guitar tones for Cult of Personality, but feel free to experiment.
