Description
In this lesson we'll learn the A section main theme of the piece, Beethoven's "Adagio Cantabile".
This main theme is a 8 measure melody. The rhythms and phrasing are very evenly leisurely stated 1/8th notes. There are usually two chords to the measure. Pay attention to bringing out the melody and the bass note confidently and then add in the chord tone inner voices. This section is played twice at the beginning, then once more after the B section.
The final section of the piece is a variation on this melody with the rhythms being changed from straight 1/8th notes to 1/8th note triplets.
