This section ramps up intensity by turning up the volume from the guitar. Altering volume and dynamics by using the guitar volume knob is something Edward does often. During the palm muted triads I kick on the MXR Phase 90, which is set to a slow sweep between 9 and 10 o'clock. This section reappears again near the end of the song just before the outro section.
