In this lesson we'll take a look at the guitar 1 parts for verses 1 and 2. The verses of the song repeat a simple 16 measure blues form utilizing the I, IV, and V chords (E, A, and B).

Guitar 1 is playing a rhythm that is based on the classic boogie blues pattern, and puts emphasis on the upbeats. You'll notice when you get to guitar 2 that it emphasizes the backbeats with the snare, and the combination of the 2 parts make things interesting rhythmically.

A note about the form to avoid confusion: this form repeats consistently throughout the song, and there is no "chorus" per se. The element that might be considered the "chorus hook" - singing "mockingbird" - is integrated into the repeating verse form.
