Guitar 3 plays a single note line along with the main riff. This riff is tucked into the mix of the original recording, and is almost never played live anymore. But this is a cool part that mimics guitar 2 using single notes except the very last note is a G!

Interesting that guitar 2 is playing a full E barre chord (with the G# note in it), and guitar 3 is playing the G note. Once we get into the leads, you realize the major and minor 3rd notes (G and G#) are interchanged liberally.
