First we have an basic A barre chord from the E form. To make that into an A7 jazz chord, I place my first finger on A at the 5th fret, my middle finger on G on the 4th string (5th fret), my ring finger on E on the 2nd string (also 5th fret), and my pinky finger on C# at the 6th fret.

This leaves the 5th and 1st strings open, but with jazz chords like this we don't want open strings to ring out. So, mute those strings with your index finger. This way, we can slide up into the A7 without sounding any dissonant notes.
