The tune starts out with a cool riff using dropped power chords and octaves. The riff features a descending melody outlined by the octaves and the chord shapes.

The chord progression here is I, VI, I, IV, but notice the different octave under each instance of the I chord that each provide a unique flavor. The first octave is the 5 note of the I chord, while the second octave is the major 3 note of the I chord. What a cool way to build a riff.

Note that this riff is repeated all throughout the song, using both fully distorted and clean tones. In each instance, pay special attention to your dynamics - loud and aggressive in the choruses and soft and relaxed in the verse section. The dynamics are a key element to making the song great!
