Description
We will expand the idea of combining power chords with open chords in this lesson using a riff in the style of Martina McBride. Notice that the open chords give a "big" sound to the riff while the power chords, especially the D5 and C5, give the riff a bluesy quality.
This pick hand in this riff is involved more technically than the fretboard hand. The sound of this riff lies in your ability to control your muting. Memorize the chords first so that you can spend the bulk of your time shaping the sound of the riff's chords.
