The pre-chorus brings the dynamics down momentarily and sets up the massive chorus to come. There's two guitar parts here, both very simple.

Bring the gain down a little bit- you can use your volume knob for this. The main part is big fat power chords moving from F up a half-step to Gb, back down a half-step to F, back to Gb, then up to Ab.

The second guitar enters briefly, playing a Db and C. This is basically a Db major 7 chord without the 3rd and 5th; but voiced this way it really brings out the half-step sound of the C played with the Db. This makes it sounds a bit "out" and creates tension. The root then slides up to a C and you have an octave voicing, making it resolve and release the tension.
