Today I'm gonna teach you how to play the song "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" as made famous by Jet. This song is a high energy blues-rock song that has a raw sound to the production. With guitar noise, vocal shouts in the background, and the clash of A major chords and A minor melodies, this song almost has a little bit of a punk vibe to it.
This is a great electric guitar song as it uses the A minor pentatonic scale. In this key, pretty much any of the open strings would fit right in, so it's okay to have a little "sloppiness" in the guitar playing. From just a couple listens, it sounds like a very simple song, but after studying it a bit more, you'll be able to notice it has some good arranging to it with two guitars balancing out the rhythm section.
