Continuing on with our new way to apply an old idea.

The focus in this lesson is about the picking involved with our new blues technique. You can use a pick and your fingers, called hybrid picking. Or you do away with the pick entirely and only use your fingers.

With hyrbrid picking I typically pick the bass notes with the pick and then pluck the upper strings with my middle and ring fingers. Without using a pick, you can dedicate your thumb to the bass notes and use your index and middle fingers to pluck the upper strings. Notice in either case you can play the bass notes and melody notes at the same time or you can rhythmically separate them. We'll explore that idea in depth a little later.
