hey i wanted to post this in the gear section, but it seems that section is dead sorry about posting it here. i'am looking for a sort of van halenish tapping sound, my setup is epiphone les paul, jd crybaby wah original, rp100, marshall micro mini stack, fender frontman, i don't have much money to buy alot of good gear, so what effects do i need to have a good strong fret tapping effect, currently i have gain( all the way up) crybaby, delay, disto 100% some compression i think, reverb and alot of other stuff what do i need?

Do you mean getting harmonics by tap on the frets? That's cool, I use to it on my bass (!). Works good aswell on my with Epiphone Speciell-II - Marshall MG30 and my Zoom505 aswell.

My settings are all "fifteen over". I think it's more about technique than settings.. I saw a great tutorial for this on the net somewhere.. Let me check.. I got it:

click on the CHF Online Columns and go forward to Wiretap.

I hope this helped you, dude!

Take care..

I agree with Inisfail that it is more about technique than settings, but, I think Chorus and Compression will get you closer to what your looking for. Also, in my opinion, too much gain or distortion can kill the tone.

yeah, for tapping (especially two handed) it is very important to have good technique, the slightest bugger ups will cause it to sound muddy.
Dude I think that a slight chorus, with lotsa distortion and maybe a compressor makes for awesome tapping. Turn your treble up a bit, so that it is sparkling, not twangy and let rip.
