Play it how you fell most confortable with. I´d play down, down, up, down down, up, etc, but you might find another use of pickstrokes easier.

That's similar to:

|-------------7-------------------7----------
|---------7-----10p7----------7------10p7--
|--9b11-----------------9b11-----------------
|---------------------------------------
|---------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------
D...........U....D..U.........D.......U...D....U

.. where b11 represents a full bend to the 11th fret. That's easiest done with alternate picking, kind of (you know.. up down up down). A bluesy type of riff eh (as seen in lots and lots of pre-80 solos).

With yours, you could play the first one Down, and then all the rest after it Up, like a rake or sweep or whatever, limiting the picking motion for ultimate speed. I'd personally always play the first bend as a Down pick, and then the other two picks as Up, but not as a sweep Up, just regular pick Ups. (lol.) and then the bend again as a Down ... It'd be more bluesy that way. I hear that metallica guitarist is influenced a lot by Hendrix and your riff there proves it.

(Ha Ha, he's influenced by Hendrix, influenced by Hendrix! Na na na na naaa na.)

well... for me cos the note is not too many, so can choose alternate picking or sweep picking. but i use sweep picking bcos can build up the coordination for ur left and right hand. and also, please choose to use hard pick, it will help...

do never use hard picks if you don´t like. you can play it with soft and heavy picks, it doesn´t matter, just play with the one you feel most comfortable.

uhm ... are u sure its 10^7 ? i always played it as a pull off and then hit the bend. See when ure hitting the bend u want it to sound while u hit the next 7 in the sequence. I'd say alternate pick it slow and work ure way up to speed. Hope that helps.
