What is a good head that might sound good for classic rock so that I can get a tone kinda like jimi hendrix, pink floyd. About 800 dollars is my range. I have a fender strat. And a peavey 4x12 cabinet.

You can't possibly know how much grief it causes me to say this, but it seems to me that you want a Marshall. Dave Gilmore's sound is easier to get with an old HiWatt or an Ampeg (my preference!), but you need a Marshall setup for Hendrix sounds, and you can still approximate Dave Gilmore with it.

you have to give Marshall its props, though. I would definitely say Marshall if you're not to experienced with other, less known amps as it is always a solid, quality choice.

my reccomendation, though, is to get the amp used from either a trusted friend or store (try ebay if you're brave) as buying Marshall amps new costs *way* to much...

oh yeah, and STAY AWAY FROM THE MG's. Im sure you weren't even considering them, but they're the only marshall products not made in Britain.
