Hey, I'm looking for a Guitar Amp Simuator (a windows program) that can be EXACTLY like a guitar amp, with effects such as distortion, reverb, wa wa, etc... Free is good, but if its not free thats ok... I have Cubase SX, but I dont kno how to use it...

Thanks,

Go with Amplitube. Awesome simulations of AC-30's, Marshall 800's and other well known makes. There's also a ton of factory settings that imitate specific artists. The only problem with computer based simulators though is you need a fast computer or you get a delay. I'm using a Mac G3 with Cubase and have to record leads straight line in first, then put the plug-in on the sound later. Kinda inconvenient cause you have to imagine what the finished sound is gonna be like while you're playing this dinky line-in sound, but you can spend as much time as you want later trying out different amps until you find one that fits the song.
Another unit I've mentioned here before is a RedBox Cabinetulator...a small box that plugs in the line through of your effects pedal. The advantage there is you can play live while getting the sound you want, and with some careful positioning of your computer speakers, get a great feedback sustain.
Basically every tune I posted up until last December is straight line in through a Boss ME-5/Cabinetulator. More recent stuff is likely to be amplitube or a combination of the two.

Try www.amplitube.com.
Actually now that I think of it, I hope it isn't a Mac only application.
If so, sorry..my bad.
(..on the other hand there is a sort of self-satisfaction in telling somebody they can't get it cause it's not available for Windoze.
Now ya know how it feels... :p )

you could also try ReValver (Sonar) or ampfarm from Line6 (Protools)
depending on which audio software you use. Both are good

Sorry to temporarily hijack this thread, but I'm just beginning to experiment with guitar plugins (Amplitube, Trash, Simuanalog, etc.) after using outboard direct recording solutions for a couple of years. I'm wondering - what is the best way to get your guitar sound into the sound card (in my case a Delta 66)? Do you all use a direct box (Behringer Ultra-G, for example), or a clean outboard preamp (Tonelab, Tech 21 stuff, etc.), or do you just plug STRAIGHT IN to the sound card?

A million thank-yous.

I'd use a preamp or DI box to bring the signal up to line level and shoot strait into the "line in" on your sound card. If you have a nice external A/D converter you may want to use that rather than the one on your sound card.

if you are realy thinking about getting a mac, then go for Logic Pro - theĀ“ll release a guitarampsimulation on the next version that will top everything in existance (as with every other new audio-instrument/effect they develop.. just think about Space Designer   )

here are further details: http://www.emagic.de/products/PRO/PRO/index.php?lang=EN

I go more or less direct line in through a Boss ME-5 multi-effects unit. Everything's turned off except for a slight bit of compression

Go for GuitarPort from Line6, it is the same as Ampfarm, but Ampfarm is only for Digitechs systems. But Line 6 has made Guitarport for the more mortal PC, and comes with an AD/DA converter to your USB port so your computer donĀ“t lack and I have to emphesize this. IT SOUNDS F@Ā£$ING GREAT. I would pick it over Amplitube any day.

be warned...the newer macs and their upgrades tend to be expensive and im pretty sure good quality amp simulators adn recording stuff will also cost some money tooo..I just hope you have a decent of money at hand
You can look into Digitechs GNX series..thats like an amp modler

I had a guitar port and sold it when I got the PodPro. I also have a Digitech GNX2 which I am rapidly going off.

As far as plugins well I prefer to dial in exactly the sound I want before I record it however I have experimented with re-amping using Cakewalk's ReValver plugins. They are OK.

I am also experimenting with miking my MG15 micro-stack. Even using some fairly serious kit (like a Focusrite Voice Master Pro w/AD board (that's nearly a thousand dollars worth of preamp), an Aliesis Midiverb 4 and a Shure KMS44 large diaphragm condenser) it is not as nice sounding as the Pod shooting direct out of the S/P DIF. This is mainly because i) the room acoustics are horrible and ii) I cant turn the amp above 3 because of neighbors (which make using a dynamic mic like an SM57/58 out of the question).

For my money the pod is the best option and dead easy to use.
