I've seen them both, but not at the same time.

Sounds cool.

Aiwass is right, Yngwie's been a little fat since the 80s! People should get over it.

I was disappointed with Yngwie's performance on the album. BUT, when I saw him live it was great.

One thing that bothers me though, is the way that a lot (yes, a lot, its not a minority of them) of the Satch and Vai fans treat Yngwie and his fans. They think he's some kind of joke. Sure, Yngwie does look a little ridiculous.

But so does Vai.

And so does Satch.

I dunno, I just feel that if Satch and Vai respect Yngwie enough to invite him to tour with them, then the fans should share that respect.

Right, I also can´t understand people who don´t respect him.
Also if he plays ony melodic and harmonic minor scales, there are not many players who have such a good technique are very melodic and musicial too.

Wow I think this is my first post since the forums been updated with this new software and i must say all those options are kinda weird.
Anyways, I dont respect yngwie not because of his musical abilities, its very clear to me that he is a great guitar player,. much better than people think he is but man, his attitude sucks so much.. He is like that chick guitar player, the great cat or whatever her name is. I cant stand people with this "im the best player and musician ever " attitude. Even back in the 80's he wasnt the best player around, and no, he didnt invent sweep picking or brought it to rock. You can hear ritchie blackmore sweeping on some deep purple and rainbow songs from the end of the 60's, so basicly Yngwie is just another good guitar player who thinks hes God or something like that and thus being hated by many people like myself.
"They think im crazy..
but i know better.
It is not I who am crazy.
It is I who am mad.."

ok...im gonna have to disagree with you on one thing...Hes nothing like the "great kat" for god sakes she thinks shes beethoven reincarnated and i can see what you mean hes cocky and was really cocky back in the 80's but he was also much younger then..I think that anyone would have some cockyness once they got into the stardome or what not
No one in this forum said he invented "sweep picking"..IMHO i see that he pioneered it just like eddie did with tapping

To be honest, not many guitarists have done anything TRULY unique since the early 70s.

Its hard to find any technique that John McLaughlin didn't do in 1971.

For proof, check out say.. the Mahavishnu Orchestra album "The Inner Mounting Flame".

McLaughlin shreds it up big time, 1971.

there is some crazy stuff on those mahuvishnu records

he was shredding like no ones business years before Yngwie

I still love Yngwie though, he's an awesome song writer and musician

A quick note on how self obsessed Yngwie is in my opinion.
A quote from the inside cover of the Attack album I have in my hand:

"Produced by Yngwie J Malmsteen.
All music composed and arranged by Yngwie J Malmsteen.
All lyrics and melodies written by Yngwie J Malmsteen."

The only person he gives credit too is J S Bach when he says track 15 is a variation on one of his themes.

The back of the album also has the following underneath the track listing:

"Produced by Yngwie J Malmsteen.
All compositions, Lyrics and arrangments by Yngwie J Malmsteen"

Also the inside has a nice spread covered with shots of him doing poses with his strat.

Fair enough you might say, he worked hard on the album and he thought he deserved all the credit for it. Since when has that been a decent attitude. Even if he did write it all he could add a few photo's of the rest of the band or let them write "something" on the album.

Ironically, the album is complete crap compared to some of his others.

Don't get me wrong, I think he rocks as a guitarist, but his attitude has definately not changed, he's still a total asshole.
