American History X

This was a great movie. I just saw it last night. It is very racial, but many things in the movie are true. Ed Norton stars as a skinhead, who murders to black people. He became a skinhead because blacks had murdered his father. His younger brother unfronutaley saw this happen. Ed Norton goes to jail for a couple years ( because the charges were cut short because the black men stole his car). but in jail, he finds out that people of all race are good people.

He comes out of jail only to find that his younger brother has joined the skinheads. he tries getting him out of this orginization and he suceeds. But i'm not going to spoil the end of the movie, probably one of the most dramatic endings i've ever seen.

The point of the movie is to never keep hating, because if you keep on taking an eye for an eye, you will have nothing left.

I suggest you all see it if you have not.

Edward Norton is possibly my favorite actor at the moment, and this movie is one of his best.

That's definitely one of my favorite movies. It's not exactly family entertainment, but neither are most of my other favorite movies. Like S's list.

I think both those movies should be required in public high schools, but I don't think any people in charge would agree with me on this point.

Hell the movie f-ing ruled... I saw it like 10 times.... Had nothing better to do... I'm married so it's not like I'm getting any or anything... oh nevermind... The movie f-ing ruled!!!

And sort of on the same psych out page as Fight Club, Donnie Darko is the sh!t. Donnie Darko is a kid who gets diagnosed as being a schizophrenic; he sleepwalks, and recieves prophecies of the future from a giant, demonic bunny rabbit named "Frank." I know that sounds stupid, but, it is one of the most thought provoking, sinister films I've ever seen. The ending is sad as hell, and you are alternately freaked out and knocked flat laughing as things start to happen that make you question whether Donnie is really insane or not. Patrick Swayze starts as a self help guru; it's frickin hilarious. It takes a good 3 or 4 watches before it totally makes sense.

Donnie Darko is possibly the most brillian movie I have ever seen

not many people seem to know about it though, its a shame because it is absolutely mind blowng

History X is really good too, especially the prison rape scene

You cant have a film post without mentioning 'Shawkshank Redemption', without a doubt the best written and most emotive film Ive ever seen. The scene where Andy manages to get beer for him and the guys after tarring the roof is so so powerful. Esp as Morgan Freeman frames every seen with perfectly poetic naration.

Tim Robins and Morgan Freeman both deserved oscars for that film, even though that's impossible, but the academy could have made exceptions for those two amazing performances

If we're naming impacting movies 'Unforgiven' is my favorite - watch it maybe once a month with a bottle of whiskey. Cool Hand Luke I've meant to watch and I've never heard of Donnie Darko but I'll get them both next time I go out.

American history X is a good movie, but I hate how they depicit skinheads in that movie. Same with Higher learning. I know a few skinheads and they are not racist hitler loving fags. It's a damn shame how strongly stereotypes effect the way society looks at people, and how quickly skinheads got a bad name.

Donnie Darko - a example of a perfect movie. have seen it maybe 5-6 times and still wouldnt mind watching it again in the near future.

Which also brings me to this, theyre releasing an uncut version of Donnie Darko, this spring. whoopie.

I too liked American History X, as well as Ed Norton. So long as we're throwing out movies to check out, try "Cecil B. Demented". It's a dark, John Waters, comedy. I like the style of that movie. I Gotta check out Donnie Darko, I see it playing all the time on HBO and whatnot, but never heard about it.
