Hey!

I was thinking of perhaps buy myself a 7-stringed, but I'm not sure which one.. Ibanez 7-620 maybe..

Does anyone of you dudes have any 7-stringed who can share your experience with me? What should I think of before I buy one? Is there any products I should avoid at any cost? Anything!

See ye!
Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?

I've never owned a 7-string guitar, but if I got the chance I would.

Ibanez seems to be one of those companies where some of their products are awesome and some of them are complete junk and it's not possible to tell the difference untilyou head out to your local store and try them out for yourself.

A 7620 is a good buy. Especially used!! I bought a 7620 (one of the older models, with Dimarzio breed pickups in them) for $100. Yes, $100 used. Perfect condition, and I love it.

I tried several brands before purchasing one. I ended up getting the Schecter Diamond series one, a little more versatile then the Ibanez.

What makes you say that?

The Shecter's come with fewer options as far as bridges are concerend. And the pickups aren't nearly as nice as the dimarzio pickups that IBanez tends to put stock on the 7 string models.

And on top of that, I've played Schecter's 7 string models, and they're some of the worst I've ever played (as far as 7 string is concerned).

I have a Universe laying around somewhere in this mess, but I don't play it because I hate the neck... Actually the only 7 string neck that I actually like is Washburns... of course I never tried the Kramer 7 string....

The Schecter I have was a custom made diamond series for this local music chain. The pick-ups are Seymour Duncan, and the guitar has a nice strat feel to it, very warm and fat sounding. The neck and frets are a little fatter then the standard stock model. A very nice guitar, especially for my needs...I'm not really into heavy metal so I find the DiMazio pick-ups a little too hot, and I never, ever want a guitar with a tremelo bar on it again, especially a locking unit one.

What ever you do DON'T GET A SCHECTER!!!!! The neck feels like it was crafted out of a banister. Get the fender squire 7 with the fixed bridge these things really shred and come with good stock pickups, here is the exact one I have it's on ebay, buy it, it's top notch mine is that same blue color.

Carvin makes some awfully sweet 7-strings... Too bad they're not an easy find in Europe.

Ugh, the stagemaster series is CRAP.

Poor electronics, poor hardware, poor craftmanship...

Maybe the tuning pegs could be replaced but thats it!!!!! Who cares if a guitar isn't top notch in the eye's of god. If you do a recording with it and it sounds great. Who cares? I figure only tech freaks need expensive guitars. I just got a jackson reverse head stock maple neck 24 frets dimarzio evolution pickups, original case, stone finnish, mint for 299.00 thats where it's at! No welfare gibsons for 2,000 that play like schecter.

What's up with dissin Schecter? I love mine, it's my main workhorse. A lot of the pro's used to use the schecter custom shop strats, some people swear by them. I believe Mark Knoplfer was one of those people who played one for awhile (like 10yrs).

I will admit, I've never been impressed w/the stock stuff that they have made over seas for them.

Sounds great. I'll e-mail you right now. Of course, just listening to some recordings doesn't means that the guitar will work for me, but it's allways fun to hear other people play..

However, you guys seems to kinda disagree with eachother, but any guitar you recomend, allthough everyone else says it sux, will I try.

And, as you say DiminishedDevil, I don't need a guitar expensive as a car. I don't know what that Schecter costs? Have anyone mentioned it?

I live in Europe, so guitars only-made-in-the-states isn't very interresting to me..

Schecter is made by Cort, btw. If you cut out the middle man you can get a very high quality 'schecter' from them for $500. That's half off for getting the name of the people who actually made it on the headstock.

There's like 3 guitar manufacturers in Indonesia, Korea, and I forget the other place, probably China, that all the guitar companies contract out to make there guitars so they can sell them at a cheaper price. So basically the same company makes most of the guitars for Ibanez, Aria, Cort, Schecter, Fender, stc..

Cort is the company/factory that makes them, or at least makes the guitars for the people who don't contract with Samick.

Cort makes guitars for Conklin, BC Rick, Ibanez, Epi, fender (jackson and squire, I believe), Washburn, Schecter, it's rumored PRS, and a dozen others I can never remember. Their own line of guitars is the best for the price.
