Hi all,

Thought I would register and say hello. So .... Hello.

About me,
Well I guess I wanted to play guitar for years and I am only just getting round to it so expect tons of posts on Whats this thing do and how does this work ... I hope you have patience :)

My aim in this new fangled hobby is to start at newbie to rhythme then to lead and if I still have fingers left do some of that freaky acoustic spainsh guitar. I have a lot of time and when I do something I tend to go all out :)

Influnces would have to be System of a down, metallica, Filter, CKY, HIM the list is endless as Im sure is everyones.

Maybe I can start my hello thread with some questions ...

1, I been looking at a cheap Ibanez ... good move?
2, I also found I can plug a guitar into my PC .. Good move?
3, Is learning to read music later rather than sooner a bad idea?

Thank you in advance and once again hello :)

Welcome to the forum
1. Do you have a guitar now? If, so what kind? Ibanez (that are cheap) can be a very good beginner guitar. I would say that it'd be alright if your short on cash, or if you might not want to play guitar down the road.
2. Great Move! there are a variety of effects and recording softwares you can buy for it. It's a great resource to use, but don't crank it to loud, you don't wanna blo those speakers.
3. I've always found that reading music is valuable. Although these days, everything is being transferred to tab. Being able to read music lets you play many different styles, plus you can transfer stuff onto guitar. But if you really don't wanna, at least know the names of the notes on your fretboard, even if you can't read it off paper.
Good luck man!
There are only two important things in life - There's music and theres girls, not necessarily in that order....

Hey dude, welcome to site, ask tons of questions. I highly recommend it. Also there's a chat link on the top left of your screen you can click on for some real-time help (provided one of us op's is awake) :D At any rate, take a good look around the site, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I love you... welcom to the guitar forum from HELL. MUAHHAHAHAHHAAHAHA. No, actually we aren't that special. Good luck with learning to play. It'll be frustrating at times, but in the end it'll all pay off. Or maybe you'll quit before it starts to pay off, that wouldn't be good.

Yes, looking at Ibanez guitars is a good start. I would look at their lower priced guitars on the net and then go to the pawn shop and try to find something comparable. Take a friend who has been playing for awhile.

Yes, use your computer for practising and recording. You can have a virtual band in a box. Download Acid Music from Sony. They have a trial version for free. If you have a half-way descent soundcard, hook up through it. Caution, make sure everything is hooked up first and that all volume is turn down. Don't want to blow your soundcard. This will get you by until you can afford and learn more about using your computer for recording. There is a lot of info out there for this.

Yes, learn guitar tab as soon as you can. This will help you learn songs and get into the heads of these guitar players faster. It is also good to get a feel for song writing. Unless your trying to learn sight reading for school or commercial work, I would wait on learning it.
