Yes, looking at Ibanez guitars is a good start. I would look at their lower priced guitars on the net and then go to the pawn shop and try to find something comparable. Take a friend who has been playing for awhile.

Yes, use your computer for practising and recording. You can have a virtual band in a box. Download Acid Music from Sony. They have a trial version for free. If you have a half-way descent soundcard, hook up through it. Caution, make sure everything is hooked up first and that all volume is turn down. Don't want to blow your soundcard. This will get you by until you can afford and learn more about using your computer for recording. There is a lot of info out there for this.

Yes, learn guitar tab as soon as you can. This will help you learn songs and get into the heads of these guitar players faster. It is also good to get a feel for song writing. Unless your trying to learn sight reading for school or commercial work, I would wait on learning it.
