I'm 23, been playing for around 9 years, only been playing electric for 5. Never had any lessons, but wan't to take them extremely bad, just no one around to give them :(. I play mostly rock/hard rock, but I really enjoy the blues, metal, modern heavey metal, jazz, some country, and some stuff I've made up that I can't figure out a category for. I've never been in a full on band that went out and gigged. Just played with a bunch of different musicians for fun for folks. basically a few jam sessions with an audiance. I'm pretty in the dark when it comes to knowing what I'm actually doing on the guitar, I just play what sounds good to me and whatever fits.
