How old is everyone and how long have you been playing guitar? Do you have lessons or are a teacher yourself ? Also who has played infront of loads of people before and are fairly famous ?

Well, im 17 in just under a week and have been playing guitar for just over a year now. I am still having lessons and i think you can never be too good not to. I have never played infront of many people only about 4 people at the most.

I know these kind of questions may have been asked before, but i love finding out about other people :)
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

I'm gonna be 19 in about a week, I've been playing since about freshman year high school, never taken any lessons. I have played in front of decent sized crowds before (no stadiums yet :(), I've never had any problem doing it. I'm not famous, but I will be.

My musical styles have included-
Jazz- played a year in a jazz bad, did several gigs including one on a trailer bed in central park, one bar, and a couple dinners.
Metal-disco, if I could find a drummer who could do a decent dance beat.
Rock- I was in a band that did a couple bush covers. Not exactly elite, but it was way more fun than you might think. Only did one rock concert, at a birthday party for about 30 people. We did 1 original and a wide variety of covers even though we had about 5 original songs written at the time.
Blues- never been in a blues band, but it's fun to play with.
Ska/reggae- did some songs in this styling in the band mentioned earlier, the birthday party one.
Contemporary- I've been 'volunteered' to play guitar for church a shltload, about 100 people every weekend I'm on break from college and a random assortment wednesdays.
80s rock ala Rhoads, just because tapping is so fun to play around with.

Dribbling, ranting, raving lunatic from Newcastle in NE of the UK who should have been dead years ago but instead pretends to be a respectable scientist age 33 and 3/4.

Been playing guitar for about 20 years on and off (in-between bouts of catatonia and total loss of bodily functions).

Most of it has been too much fun to describe or remember!

I'm 23, been playing for around 9 years, only been playing electric for 5. Never had any lessons, but wan't to take them extremely bad, just no one around to give them :(. I play mostly rock/hard rock, but I really enjoy the blues, metal, modern heavey metal, jazz, some country, and some stuff I've made up that I can't figure out a category for. I've never been in a full on band that went out and gigged. Just played with a bunch of different musicians for fun for folks. basically a few jam sessions with an audiance. I'm pretty in the dark when it comes to knowing what I'm actually doing on the guitar, I just play what sounds good to me and whatever fits. Besides guitar....I'm what you could call a "sign architect", draftsman, and engineer. you can go to http://www.cisigns.com to see where I work. well, guess I've bored ya'll enough, so, talk to you later

Im 13 years old... and ive been playing guitar for about 3 years....... i began when i was 8 but didnt really take it seriously. my dad has taught me who has been playing for 20 years.

My playing styles: In order to what i play the most.
1) Texas sorta Blues - i play lots of Hendrix-Vaughn inspired licks. And i usually just play off of what are in there songs. I love to bend off the pentatonic scales. Even thought I dont think he's all that great.. i love playin Slash leads also... I also play lots of Gary Moore and Satriani.
2) Acoustic Soft Rock - I basically grew up playing acoustic queensryche songs, some acoustic tesla songs, and some of those 80's hair metal ballads.
3) Heavy Metal - i love playing heavy metal tunes.... and just doing some east shreds to impress the fellow... classmates and family.

I rarley play jazz or classical but once in a while ill go up and learn some of azraels scales and some of christoph's licks.

17 in about a month, been playing for 4 years.
Love to play blues, but doubt I would ever join a blues band. I play in two bands right now. One is soft rock and the other is more of a modern rock type genre(not nickelback type stuff) its hard to explain.

i'm 19 years young from South West of England and been playing guitar for about 9 years or so...self taught.

Play all styles from Hank Marvin to hendrix. Like a bit of Setzer and play in a local rock n roll band when we actually have a bass player.
Bass players r impossible 2 find :(

And i get the piss taken outta me for my taste in music. Do u know any other 19 year old who listens 2 Hank Marvin, Stevie Ray Vaughan or Chuck Berry etc. I'm sure u do but i get a lot of stick from my work buddies.

Cheers all.

Hi

Im 17 years old and I've been playing guitar for almost 10 years now (Jeez! That long? God I'm crap...) and I come from the sunny NE of England.

I havn't really played infront of huge audiences, mainly because I am very rarly in a band for very long. Im mostly a songwriter, but the most I have played to was 3-400 at my old school hall.

I play pretty much everything, with the exception of speed, metal or thrash. Nothing against them, but guys who play ultra fast and double hand tap just dont do it for me. I've dappled in just about everything else though. Blues, punk, rock, acoustic, grunge, ska, indie, jazz, funk, you name it. I also play the bass and keyboard.

I'm 22, almost at the 3 year mark. Although I'd be at 6 years if I had kept playing when I originally bought a guitar at 16. I'm graduating this June from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. The largest group of people I've played in front of was about 50-60.
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.
