Alright, so I've got the first bit of the tab from Frenzy, supplied by sambob over in the tab section and I'm curious as to how the arpeggio bit is played on the 8th line down. (the part that looks like a sin wave) Rather, how you pick it. Is it Up/Down/Up/Down etc etc? I can't see how else it could be and if it is, I've got some practicing to do.

You just sweep it (just your classic yngwie arpeggio). Although if you could alternate pick that I'd be hella impressed :P

Sweep as in ... 'strum' the first arpeggio going up (the first arpeggio ascending) with a single downstroke motion -and then 'strum' the 2nd arpeggio descending with a single upstroke motion? By strum I mean ... well, strum. or Sweep. ha. Where do I find how to sweep.

I guess you could just look around this site, I'm sure some of the tricks deal with it.

Like, all the examples on this site show some great sweeping exercises I'm sure, but they don't tell you how to do it - how to position your pick or how to use your pick. Basically it's like a slow strum, right, except you pull your pick across the strings in a manner in which it sounds like you're single picking each note, right?

Well, if you did that the strings would keep ringing out. So you have to mute the strings you're not playing, and it helps to just not fret the ones you're not playing.

As for the muting, what you want to do (this is what I've found I do at least), is to use both your right and left hands for muting. Your left for muting the strings you've yet to pick, and your right for the strings you've already picked.

Ha, sucks for you dave. You should learn to fingerpick like me. You'll never need to learn any of this bull.

I took lessons at one point from a jazz guitarist who used a thumb pick in collaboration his index and middle to pick which was pretty cool because some of the harmonics he could pull of with the thumb pick were phenomenal. It was too much of a change though, going from flat pick to thumb pick, and I couldn't hack it.

I'm pretty sure this arpeggio thing is straight forward - actually I think a portion of my riffs related to it back when I was pinkyless in my playing - but until I see someone doing it or get proper instruction on it, I'll let it be. Maybe the second half of my Rock Discipline video deals with arpeggios. I'll have to check.
