Practice
Just out of curiousity how often do you guys practice? I practice daily atleast 30 minutes.

I usually get 2 hours in a day, on and off (still in high school, ya know? Not for long though!)

Somewhere between 15 minutes to 4 hours a day on guitar (schedule varies due to a weird college schedule). I play piano about 15 minutes to 2 hours a day too.

right now i'm in the process of getting a demo tape ready. so i'm practicing like mad
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

I usually average about 7 hrs. a day w/the guitar in my hands....don't know how much of that is time spent practicing, that includes teaching, performing, composing, noodling, and yes..practicing.
# 6
I play for about 1-2 hours depending on things, sometimes alot more. anytime I'm just sitting watching tv or a movie I'm got my guitar in my hands doing exersizes and piddling around on it.
# 7
I get about an hour to 2 hours depending on if everyone leaves me alone for more than a minute
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

I used to practice about 5 hours a day but now i dont really have so much time and practice 1-2 hours a day usually.
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

I practice about two hours a day but it's in front of the tv so I get distracted easily. I tend to have a guitar in hand all the time when I am at home though.
Jimmie showed me alot of stuff, but there was a time when he warned, 'If you ask me to show you anything again, I'll kick your ass.' Well, I did and he did. - SRV

I'm like you guys. I have the guitar in my hand anywhere from 1-8 hours a day. I don't have any sort of regular practice regimen. It's usually just me noodling around, perhaps playing over some backing tracks, etc..

I usually play while going on my computer. Usually just messing round and improvising while i'm posting on guitartricks forum hehe.

When I was starting out I played the huge hours too - I used to run home for lunch at school and play. An hour in the morning, half at lunch, and three after school. Hardcore. Music is still my life but I play maximum two hours a day, rarely three, and of late missing a day or two a week. Funny thing is, I feel like I'm progressing more than back then. Decent practicing methods is an art in itself to be learned maybe.

Maybe you were on a plateau pack then... *shudders*. I hate when I make absolutely no progress no matter how hard I try.
# 14
Progress seems completely random for me.

I've been back from vacation less than a week now and I feel that I'm a lot better than before I left. This is after 10 straight days of not having a guitar around. Anyone else experience this? Taking some time off actually improving your skills?

Back in '68, when I bought my first guitar, I played every possible minute of every day.
I played when I first woke up. I played after I got home from my morning paper route, before I went to school. I played when I came home for lunch. I played when I came home from school. I played before doing my homework. I played instead of doing my homework. I played until bedtime. I played after bedtime. I played until my fingers bled. I played until I had calouses over blood blisters on my fingertips....
35 years later, I play maybe 4 hours a week, but I still love it! :D

Too bad you never played until your fingers bled back in the summer of '69....
... and that's all I have to say about that.
