If you don't know how to start, simply pick ant note you like, I would suggest seventh freth on the G string.
Pick it, just as you use to do, then just touch the string with your thumb on the same place on the string you picked, almost as when you take a natural harmonic and you will hear the harmonic.. Then do it again, but faster now. Later on, you will be able to pick harmonics easly.. Remember, pinch harmonics sounds different, depending on where you take them on the string..
Good luck!

Ok. So let me get this straight. Pick string like normal. As in hold string down on board. Then touch the string after it's picked? When I do that I don't get that high pitch. It sounds really horribable actually.

To do the pinch harmonic, you need to hold the pick in a way that will let the edge of your thumb hang over.
When you strike the string, the edge of your thumb (on your picking hand) must strike the string at the same time the pick does.
You need to find the sweet spot though, they don't occur in all places, so when you strike say the G string 7th fret, strike the string with your pick and thumb and continue to do it up and down the string (around the pickups) until you get a good harmonic.

Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

That's exactly what I do. I get some kinda muted harmonic. Nothing like a real pinch.

Muted harmonic????
Are you using any gain/distortion?
I don't understand what you mean muted.
