A little problem

Hey all, I may sound like a total moron for asking but I seem to have a bit of trouble when I want to change my guitar to an alternate tuning style. I have a BC Rich with a raising tremolo, locking nut, whammy, all that fun stuff. When I first bought the guitar close to a year or so ago, i didn't really have a problem changing between standard tuning, to drop D or whatever. One day one of my strings broke and, being my first electric i brought it in for them to show me how to restring it. since I've got it home again, lately when i try to detune it, one string will be in tune and the rest will go out of tune etc. it can take me like half an hour to do what i used to be able to do in seconds. :confused: ANy help or any advice on what I could do would be greatly appreciated. That's what floating bridges do, when you change the tension on one string, you have to adjust all the other ones to compensate for that difference. There is no easy way out.

If you changed the gauge of your strings (ie. from .09s to .11s), your intonation must be reset.

You can't change from standard to drop D on a floating trem without having to tune other strings ... It's just your ears that are getting more sensitive !
The more you play , the more you'll get more your ears will develope perfect pitch.

Try to play a guitar that's not perfectly in tune infront of some of your non-musician friends ... I can asure you that nobody's gonna notice . ;)

Thanks for the help guys. I kept the same gauge strings fingercruncher, but if i were to change them, how would I reset the innotation? Thanks again guys, now I know its not just me ;)

You can go to http://www.stewmac.com and order a hipshot trem setter. That will go into the tremelo cavity like a spring and actually stabilize your tremelo so that you can detune without going OUT of tune... I have been using them since the 80's and they are in all my guitars that have floating bridges...

As long as it uses Strat style vibrato springs, it will work. I think the odds are highly in your favor that it is a good solution for your tuning problems.
