playing a good bassline requires a different kind of thinking than playing lead or rythm. mostly guitarplayers who pick up the bass fall into the habbit of playing guitar on the bass or simply playing the root-notes of a certain chord progression. a good bassline is much more - in that case, a good knowledge of theory is usefull.
