Music Books
Not your regular theory books, I mean biography or actual "reading" type books. I just picked up "Stairway TO Heaven" about Led Zeppelin, and I was wondering if there were other simliar books out there?

Do you mean similar bios or books on Zeppelin?

I had my students read Porter's biography of Coltrane -- very interesting stuff for anybody into jazz. Guitarists could pick up a lot from a book like this.
There's another good book on the making of 'Trane's album Love Supreme that is rather good too. There are tons of books covering the lives of musicians out there.
Funny, I always like guitar/music books that spent more time "talking" than going over exercises, etc., (kinda like a Freudian 'talking cure' I suppose) -- so I decided to write my own guitar book that does a lot of 'talking' with less in the way of exercises. Maybe by the end of next year I'll be done with it....the outline alone is now up to 10 pages.

If you are looking for biographic books, anything by Charles Cross is great.

Yes, simliar type bios by people who were there. Not someone who studied the band and got their info from someone else. My book is written by Zeppelin's road manager for 12 years.

Doubt it would be your style, but "A long hard road out of hell" is about marilyn Manson's rise, its writen by him. I think it would be a good read even if you dont like his music, tells about his life and what it was like to go through all thouse changes, he used to be a Music journalist, you know like that guy in the movie almost famous? I enjoyed it,
