Im guessing a locking tremelo locks so it dont move or something but i could be wrong. Im looking to buy an Ibanez EDR470EX, i have an RG270DX but i really like the EDR470EX.

A locking tremolo has clamps that prevent the strings from slipping at the bridge saddles. This is supposed to prevent the strings from going out of tune when you do a mess of dive-bombing freaky stuff. It is usually paired with a locking nut which has clamps to keep the strings from going out of tune at that end. Of course, the strings go out of tune anyway, if they are not installed properly, and they stretch.
