About the whole running around like an idiot(or kewl rock dude)...
Angus(the anus)Young never stops moving and thats what people remember him for(at least a great majority of people).I remember this girl who said he was one of the most underated guitarists simply because he was never stops moving onstage. She didnt recognize his ability as a guitarist. If you want to be known for your moves and ADHD like enthusiasm then by all means make that a staple in your personal act.I headband like theres no tommorow in the heat of a great riff and often wake up with a heavy skull and sore neck, but it just isnt in me to skip around and steal the rest of the bands thunder.

And since when is humping your guitar become a trend or fad? That went out with glam rock and closet homosexuals.

As for the moderator thingy.
A moderator should have personality and his/her own opinions, outlooks, perceptions e.c.t.Your still a human on the otherside of the screen.I tell it like it is,over the computer or to your face(which gets me in trouble some times)and I wouldnt change that. You shouldnt bend for some others agenda or needs(dont take this out of context...you know what I mean...dont leave your crippled grandmother helpless on the floor or anything).

LATER! \m/

I will be getting straplocks on my next guitar, which will weigh about 14 pounds (custom-made).

My 7 pound Gibson Les Paul Double Cutaway (between 7 and 9 pounds; pretty light) doesn't need em, but at 14 pounds of muscle....oh yeah, we'll be usin' em.

I have heard of straplocks but what do the actually do?

Besides "lock the strap".

so u dont have to run on stage like an asshole to say straplocks are good.

Yeah, strap locks are a must-have. I had a guitar go crashing to the ground once, no major damage, just cosmetic, but I wouldn't want to repeat it.

Yet, if you dont keep them tight, your guitar can slip off even easier than it would otherwise.
I remember once, in this school band, the other guitarist put his arms up in the air while yawning, and the straplocks let go. !>CRASHAnywhoooo, cool onstage tricks, play the guiar behind your back, that one's cool. I usta do that when I didn't have any solos and wanted some attention. :)

It locks the strap to your guitar so that it can't accidently fall. I've been using Dunlop Straploks for years now. All of my electric guitars are fitted with this system, so I can change guitars while wearing the same strap. The way the strap button on the guitar is designed, you can still use an ordinary strap if you need to. The spring-loaded plunger assembly is mounted on the strap, and it plugs into the end of the strap button. It can only be released by pushing the button at the end of the plunger.

Ahh, I see.

So it's kind of like a "quick release?"

You push the button in to release the strap?

That's right. The part that stays on the strap has four spring-loaded ball-bearings that lock into a groove in the socket of the part that stays on the guitar. The only way to release it is to push the button. Quick, clean, and simple. And if you lose your strap, you can use an ordinary one until you get a new set of locks.

Lose your strap?

You have to get a special strap for it?

Your straplocks would be attached to any ordinary guitar strap, so if you lost it, your straplocks would be lost with it. You'd need a new strap, but you dont need a special strap for straplocks or anything.

How about some free strap locks ? Next time you (or whoever) buys a loaf of bread, or muffins or something like that, save the little plastic tab that keeps the package closed. Trim off a bit of the plastic to enlarge the opening - voila, a "strap lock". Just slide it on after the strap. Works like a charm, and they are easily replaced.

That works pretty well, actually, but I found it was a hassle to change guitars.

Lord - I just use separate straps for each of my guitars. I think that would be an issue in live performance only.

I know guys that use washers as straplocks. But then, they only have the one guitar and don't play live. Still, if you want something cheaper than a real straplock and more expensive than a bread bag fastener, there ya go.
