Good afternoon,

My name is Louise; I have recently moved interstate and have lost access to my jam buddies/musical friends. I am a beginner, I suppose, I have been a beginner for a long time. I love everything about guitar, the sound, the challenge but mostly the feeling of playing with others.

I joined here to give myself a little direction with my practice, and to tighten up some fundamentals. I would love to feel more confident in my abilities, play with others and perform live. I have a little bit experience with these things, but only very minimal.

My favourite genres would be rock, metal, punk and funk. I think I have very eclectic tastes and love to listen to good music.

If you are new too, please say hi! I'd love to make some connections on here to discuss guitar and our learning journeys.

Hi Louise

I have been here a while but still learning myself. I just learned again - something very important over the weekend - something I had been told a million times - relax! When trying to get something new down, I have a tendency to tighten up. Once I relaxed things got better.

Welcome and best of luck with your progress.

Bill

This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!

Thanks Bill!

Great advice too. I think that could probably apply to a lot of areas in my life lol.

Thank you for replying to my post.

Hi Louise, even though I've been noodling around for years, I consider myself a beginner too. Maybe an "advanced" beginner, but a beginner none the less.

I've been here at Guitar Tricks since the start of the new year. I really like the structured lessons, because like you mentioned, it gives me a direction and a purpose with my practicing.

I'm just a bedroom player. I would love to be able to play with some other folks at some point, but for now I need to work on getting better and more confident. My favorite genres are Rock, Blues, Rockabilly and Surf.

Good luck here and have fun.
