I thought I'd try doing my own truss rod adjustment and wanted to loosen it a bit for a little more neck relief. I could not get it to move at all in either direction. I was using what I thought was a fair amount of force, rather than risk breaking something I stopped before I did. Is this normal for it to be  so hard to turn?

It's a fairly new guitar, maybe about 4 months old.

Thanks.

No it should turn without too much force.

Talk to Steve White, the tech on here. He has his own forum.

This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!

I think it is quite common for truss rods to be quite stiff, especially on newer guitars. It's important to apply steady, gentle pressure when turning the truss rod. If you force it too hard can damage the neck or the truss rod itself.

If you're unsure or uncomfortable making the adjustment yourself, consider taking the guitar to a qualified guitar technician
