Power cord muting

Every time I try to mute all of my cords except for the ones that are in the power cord I'm playing, I still hear a little bit of the other cords and it doesn't sound right. Any suggestions?

Two things here:  muting & picking precision. 

Muting with both hands (fretting and picking) is an important skill.  This tutorial is aimed at how to improve it.

Keep in mind that learning guitar is constant process of refinement.  At first you are just working on getting the notes to sound & picking or strumming them.  Then, you start to notice small things like unwanted sounds, or other notes ringing.  So, you refine your technique to play the notes while working on muting & pick precision.

So it's a good thing you've noticed the unwanted extra sound!  You are working on the next level of refinement in your technique.  Keep practicing & best of success.
