Hey!!

I am trying to learn to play guitar. My friend said to start with songs instead of chords.

So, what is the first song you learnt on guitar?

I don't agree with your friend's advice, but one of the first full songs I learned was Nirvana's "About A Girl" - The lesson here on GT is great.

The ending solo on every episode of Spongebob Squarepants. On one string.

I learned "let it be, made easy" by The Beatles

Green day, Blink-182, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and Falling In Reverse. The five best bands of all time.

Breaker heart, this is a pretty simple and useful song to practice on.

Dust in the Wind.

Which is made up of chords.

I hope what your friend meant was, figure out a song you really want to play and is accessible to your skill level, then learn what you need to play that song. As opposed to just learning chords and scales for the sake of learning them.

Hey!

The first song I learned on guitar was "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple. It's simple and uses just a few power chords, making it perfect for beginners. What about you? Have you picked a song to start with? Chill Guy
