Im trying to find a good amp for me, something that i will eventully be able to do small shows with, my teacher said it would probley be best to go with a 2x12 beacuse i can turn it up louder and its easier to carry around. a half stack would save me cash if i end up wanting something bigger in the feature if a 2x12 isnt enough plus the look cool lol ;). Any suggestions/comments appericated.

I have an old (1976) Ampeg VT-22 2X12" combo. It weighs 97 pounds. I also have a Garnet full stack 8x12" (a pair of 4x12" cabs). There are wheels on both cabs, but they're big as well as being heavy.

This particular amp is plenty loud enough on it's own. If you reaaly want to make it louder, you'd be better off micing the combo to the sound board. I'm selling the full stack - it's kinda fun, watching my shirt flapping in the breeze, but after a while, it just isn't what I need.

For sure! Before I sell off these cabs, I wanna get some buddies to help me hoist that VT-22 up on top of the full stack, so I can take some pictures.

Don't neglect the 4X10 ... cool cabs. compact but with lots of tight low end.

The Ampeg VT-40 is a 60 Watt, 4x10" combo tube amp. It just happens that the one I bought was flood damaged to the point that I had to toss the stock speakers and build a new cab.

Rather than buy four 10" speakers, I opted to use just one, a Weber VST 15" Ceramic California. I have no idea what the stock setup would have sounded like, but it sounds eargasmic now! :D

4-12's are pretty good chick magnets and stage dressing, but just remember, unless you are running a stereo rig, you're only gonna mic one speaker. So which would you rather carry around?

Back in the day I used to have a bunch of unloaded Soldano snakeskin cabs and fake heads, and used a single 12 Boogie combo sitting off the side of the stage next to my effects rack.

Work smart not hard.
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?
