anyone knows any good muscle stretching exercises?

One I use is to fret the low e string at any fret with my index finger and then with my middle finger, play the note 2 frets up, then do the same on the a string etc. Then do it with the middle and ring finger and so on. Its not too much effort and it only takes a couple of minutes but it improves your ability to stretch, quite quickly too.

those muscules are pretty well developed in my hand... i was thinking more about more thorough workouts so that all sort of key muscules all over your hand improve, thus your playing improves.
for example the muscule that is responsible for the pinky jumping up every time the middle finger is used...

there's a post somewhere here where the conversation moved to that.
it's baisicly something that happens because of the structure of the muscules, your hand might be already evolved in that teritory, but it does happens to beginners...
more on muscules, some people (like me), can't fold their pinky and keep the ring finger straight at the same time.
again, that's muscule structure related.
having your muscules developed improves efficiency and agility, and makes it easy to play.

It's almost impossible to be able to keep the ring finger straight while bending your pinky because your hand's tendons for those two fingers are almost connected. Some people have better control over it, but it's practically impossible to do.
Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

Oh you said your middle finger the first time... yeah I used to have that, now I can move my ring finger easily soooo
Theres the trick where you lay your hand flat on a table and try to lift your ring finger, most people either cant do it or lift their little finger at the same time. Suppose you could try that in your spare time

Dudes, the fingers have no muscles only tendens. So you are strenthening those if anything. What you want to work on is your forearms and triceps and biceps n such. For more power and more endurance. Especially for speed playing. Though it doesn't hurt to get a ball and grip it and hold for 10 seconds then release wait a few seconds and do it again 7 times then switch hands. Or try someting else and strengthen those fingers.

well wat u can do as a great excercise is a major scale for instance gmajor. third fret 6 string and just play the first 4 notes g, a, b, c, b, a, g. but use each finger ie.
g= 1st
a=2nd
b=3rd
c=4th
once thats done throgh picking try hammering on. i e g,a,g,b,g,c
do this ten times each time u start playing and soon enough u will get stronger more dexterous and be able to stretch better. ps always excecise clean so u can disictively hear every note.

Try this, it's potentially horrible:

Another good exercise is to hammer on 1st finger, then 2nd etc keeping them all in place as you go and work from low to high strings. It's natural to loose volume as you go higher.
Pinky/3rd independence = arse! Chopin hated his little finger and he was one of the most crucial pianists of all time. My little finger flies off sometimes but I'm not too worried 'cause I'm still damn fast.

yea a guitar player i know bends it and keeps the ring finger straight,
me no F%*£"$ way. i dunno an exercise i do is start at the e [1st] placing my mid. finger and the 2nd fret and pinky at the fourth and start to alternate pick up and down the fret board. i notice that my pinky isnt straight at all.
in the way it hits the string not paralell and definatly using just the side tip of it, and also when it not being used it sticks out like a periscope hehe. i try to relax my hand alot and i find that using those metal balls, yea i know that sounds funny but i have no idea what they call em, u know u twist em round in ur palm. u must be relaxed to do it properly without them hitting eachother and the more fluent and relaxed ur muscles are the better.

I've just discovered this odd finger strengthening exercise. All you do is click your fingers, all of them (or at least 3 on each hand), to some kind of fast rhythm. You can do a silly dance with by circling your arms and making your hands look like dove wings when youd do it. 1 thumb upwards, one down looks cool. Changing combinations of arm circling, rhythm etc. might be a good exercise that bridges the gap between guitar finger exercises and dancing! I'm rubbish at it but I only thought of it today and it's quite fun.
