Hi,

Has anyone gone thru Fundamentals with an electric guitar?

I am recovering from a surgery and hope to start learning guitar again. I didn't get far before. Because of the surgery my left arm and hand are still weak so I will most likely start on my electric instead of the acoustic.

Thanks,

David

Yes you can use either. The skills and concepts apply equally.

Thanks William,

I should also add to make sure your guitar has been setup to play easy. Go with the lightest gauge strings you can find and have the action (distance between fret and strings) lowered. Guitar shops can do this. This will make the strings very easy to press down on the frets. It may not sound great but at this stage you’re just trying to learn chords and build dexterity.

Good luck,

Moe

David, it makes perfect sense to work your way through Fundamentals on the electric guitar, considering your situation.

Good plan!

The fundamental guitar concepts you will learn are the same on acoustic and electric guitars.

Watch that you allow your hand to continue healing, by not over-doing it.

And, have fun! - Lisa
