I bought an old Thomas JH-1 on eBay. I had more money than caution at the time. It turned out to be a very satisfying pedal to use. The new digital 'we-can-model-anything' gizmos just don't sound as real to my ears.
The Doctor has it right. Effects are part of your sound. You gotta try 'em out for yourself. Only you can decide if something deserves to be part of your rig.

Dunlop Wah's are good, Vox wah's are good....Basically, either get a Vox or a Dunlop, you can't really go wrong with either. With most Wah-Wah pedals, you can't distinguish a difference in the wah (Envelope filters, on the other hand.....totally), or at least, can't distinguish it to an insane levels. Yeah, they have wah's that are 'far-out' or 'extreme', but your standard wah pedal is not a very complicated machine!
Best of luck.

Different boxes sound better with different amps/guitars anyway. If poss find a shop with a good range of pedals at reasonable prices (window shopping required) and take your guitar and amp in to try them. I didn't follow my own advice but I like my Crybaby Wah. I believe there's some other Crybaby (I think) that's designed to work very well with high gain (Dime bag Darrell uses it), you may find that he wah effect becomes less noticeable with high gain.
Morley wah's apparently have an optical set up which lasts longer but wah pedals are very simple affairs and it doesn't cost much to replace a worn variable resistor. Happy shopping!

If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

I like the Morley alot. I had a Crybaby. Damn thing stopped working. The switch broke. (How i don't know. i didn't jump on it. heh.) Still can't figure out how to fix it. But yeah, Just try stuff out and see what you like.

I have both a Dunlop CryBaby and a Morley BadHorsie and I can tell you that the Morley is leaps beyond the Crybaby. I found that the Crybaby was a tone sucking device that I couldn't just leave in the chain if I didn't intend on using it. The BadHorsie on the other hand has no ill effects when not in use and has great tone.
