Buying guitars online
I'm an intermedieate guitar player, and i'm looking to replace my cheap squier that i started out on. I've decided on a Jackson DKMG, but i can't decide how to buy it. The nearest guitar store to where i live is about 2.5 hours away, and i don't have a license. Both samedaymusic.com and musiciansfriend.com have the same price as at the store, but they also have the color i want. I was wondering if it is a good idea to order a guitar online? I've heard that they don't all come from the factory the same and you should only buy one that you've tried out in a store. Its 600 bucks, so i don't want to screw up. Let me know what you think.

Id stay well clear of Musicians friend, they aren’t!
I like 8thstreet.com though it is best to ring them (or email) ahead of time to check they have stuff in stock.
I have also used zzsounds.com and music123.com. Both have screwed things up but not nearly so completely as musician’s friend who I will never do business with again.

I've heard that a lot of people have had trobule with Musician's Friend, but my friend ordered an Ibanez from them and the guitar was packed really well and he had no trouble with it.

Nearest guitar store with a good selection and prices that are reasonable is about 150 miles away. It takes 2 hours to get there and at least 30 min. to navigate traffic and get to the store.

You can buy online, in fact it will save you a bunch of money (NO SALES TAX!!!), and if there are any problems whatsoever, you can return it, get a replacement at the company's expense. Buying online is NOT a bad idea, i've yet to purchase a piece of equipment at a music store! (And I've spent $5,000 on equipment so far! And i'm only 15! Can you say "gearhead"!? :D )

whatever.
anyways, i bought the jackson today. (From a Guitar Center)
It ****ing rocks!
One thing though, the volume knob is a little scratchy. i removed the knob part, and the hex nut was tight, so i'm confused. Does it just need to get worked out? Any help would be great.
Another thing. It came with EMG-HZ pickups, and i like them, but i heard the 81s are better. I was thinking of getting one for the bridge position. Let me know what you think.
