Well this is just an idea. Anyways, it would be cool if there were a program that made a sound (like a beep) in a random tone after each beep you have to write what tone it was.. if you were right then you could go on to another beep if you were wrong then you have to do it again. It is important that tones come in a random order so that you learn what tone it is by ear not by order(if you know what I mean.). The goal would be that after you've been practicing with this program for a while then you could tell what tone it is just by listening to it alone. I'm not into programing but it would be cool if anyone could make a program like this one. (sorry about the launguage I just hope that anyone understands the concept of my idea).
...and that is funny

I think there was a website that had the exact thing you're talking about , if I could get the url I'll post it here.

Anyway , I like the old practical method which is figuring out songs if you can't get proper tabs.

Your talking about perfect (absolute)pitch?? Ive written tons of posts about it. but here's a program that does what your describing.

http://www.simtel.net/pub/pd/36427.html

Start of with just the fifth octave, and the first 2 notes of the A major scale. A and B, build up one by one after you get 90% test score with 200 questions. Once you get that then do all the other notes, and once you get those. put them together. Finish and you have absolute pitch recognition and discrimination.

Embrace yourself cause learning how to recognize all 12 notes takes alot of patience but it is possible regardless of what many may say.

Sorry SLY if I beat ya to it the link.. ;)

I had the same problem I was hoping it would work for you guys. It does work you just need to go to your multimedia settings under your control panel. Once you get there click on the midi tab and change the output of your midi to whatever else is there. There should be a software wavetable. Click on that one and it should work. LEt me know if that works or not.

Hmmm..If your still interested. You should check your volume control panel to make sure, synthesizer isn't on mute and it up to a decent level. Your Midi output as I said should be on the internal midi emulator. You should restart the program after you change these settings. If it still doesn't work I don't know what to say. There are many other programs but this is the only free one I have found that works full-functionally and/or without warning pop-ups. Look for a program called "eartune", this one uses actually audio files (guitar) instead of midi. Good program and it's free if you can put up with the occastional pop-up.
