Really? I don't remember seeing any picks like that. Who made them or still does make them?

I tried the Tortex picks for a while too. I thought they were pretty crappy.

Yeah, we looked at all the metal picks on the market and as far as we could tell they were all just made from stamped metal...some with extra coatings and whatnot. What this guy came up with is amazing...I wish it came through in the picture...but it is conical. I've been playing with them for months now (as well as a bunch of the guys at gtr oblq) and the other night I got out all the different model picks I've used over the last 15 years or so (Jazz III, Stubby, Tortex, etc...) and they just don't feel as good.

You're probably right, it might fly better with the jazz crowd...not sure. It is a jazz-sized pick.

I use "Gator Grip" 2.0mm picks , and they're more durable than Tortex , and they have a very cool attack.

I've never even thought of trying one of these metal picks before ... Is it gonna affect the tone ? Good or Bad ?

yeah, the brass does alter tone a bit but not in any bad way. The first time I tried one of these it was a bit strange but now when I try other, normal picks I find them strange.

I also have a prototype in Stainless Steel and that thing is like a personal defense weapon...very sharp and I've been using it for months and it hasn't worn down at all.

while everyones on the subject on picks, I was at the shop today and I saw these tortex picks called sharpies or something like that it was like a normal pick but had a really sharp point and I was just wondering what thats used for.

I bought one of those sharp ones the other day. It seems to work pretty good for alternate picking and shredding in general, it tends to get a bit scratchy sometimes. I bought it just to see what it plays like. I like it overall.
Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

yeah i used to uses those sharp pointed jim dunlop tortex pix but just got tired of them i loved useing really hard picks i used the blue tortex picks until now that i realized the give a real scratch sound so moved to softer picks and then again it depends on the way you hold the pick and attack the string also. my friend had bought some picks that were made out of quarters off some web site i dont really like them but its something different and they busted a couple of my strings dam thing so i think ill stay away from brass and stainless steel strings
