Pink Floyd - Another brick in the wall.

That solo is such simple, but really beutiful. Gilmour's strengh has never been his speed, but his licks!
I felt like putting a bullet between the eyes of every panda that didn't want to screw to save it's species..

Iron Maiden's multiple solos in their song "Powerslave." Not the most revolutionary solos ever, but I like 'em.
I want the bomb
I want the P-funk!

My band is better than yours...

soma by the smashing pumpkins. when the singing starts again while the solo is still playing... the line "so let the sadness come again" is amazing

Allan Holdsworth - Road Games
Allan Holdsworth - City Nights
Frank Gambale - Bad Intent
Shawn Lane - Not Again
Shawn Lane - Rice With The Angels
Greg Howe - Land Of Ladies
Greg Howe - Strat-O-Varius (despite how much I hate Greg's brothers singing, this track nearly made me **** myself the first time i heard it)
Greg Howe - Stringed Sanity

I think its a tie between all of those

I like basically all of the Randy Rhoads solos. (Diary of a madman and revelation). Yngwie's pretty good as well. I really like Brian May on Bohemian Raphsody and the show must go on, even though the solos are short and simple, they still sound really awesome!

I agree... Hail Sir Rhoads!

What about Mr Sambora's break in Dead or alive. I think he must be one of the most under rated musicians today. The lack of mention in this thread confirms my belief.
Also anything from Zakk & Nuno... surely those guys have been to the crossroads.
Something clever & witty to go here!

I think it's probably "Tender Surrender" by Vai, or "Not Again" by Shawn Lane.

Tender Surrender because I just love the tone of Vai's guitar and it's very melodic. I also like "Boston Rain Melody" by Vai and "Little Wing" by SRV.

Not Again is just an awesome guitar peice in general. Shawn Lane is amazing.
Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

I'm glad you rememberd 'december flower' AIWASS.
I highly recommend learning that solo. Its not to difficult and the satisfaction from hearing it come from your own hands is priceless.

I would love to know how that solo was crafted/created.

Later! \m/
