Hey, I have 2 questions. First, I need help with no boundaries my M. Angelo. In the very first shred part, does anyone know the picking pattern (up down up down etc.)?? Because he is playing the notes up the scale, it is hard for me to find a good pattern and not be all over the place. I have the speed, but not the precision.

Question 2, how many people play with 2 fingers (thumb and index) or 3 fingers (thumb, index, and middle)? I have heard people say to play only with 2, but i have played with 3 forever and i seem to be able to play faster with 3...any opinions on that...

Thanks

1) Post the tabs , perhaps I can help ... Anyway, I usualy use very strict alternate picking for scales , and sweep picking for arpeggios. (but the rules can be broken if necessary for sure)

2) Some people play with four fingers on one string (P,I,M & A) ... More Fingers = More Speed , simple equation.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

First, I'll probably just go ahead and keep working on it till i get it...im sure i will.

second, i meant how many fingers do you hold the pick with? not how many of the left hand figers do you use, of course i use all four. Like i said, ive heard people say use 2 fingers only to hold it, but i have used 3 for as long as ive played and it seems to be the best for me. Maybe this is just one of those questions that can't be answered because it is person to person?

Later

p.s. Have you tried to play no bounndaries? What about Serrana? i am working on both of them...

I mainly use a three fingered grip too, mate. It's not the most commen approach, but it does not stand in the way of good technique in case you're worried. Check out for instance Steve Morse's style, he's a mean picker with a three fingered grip.

Can you play any/all of the song? can you make a sound clip of that part?

Thanks

Oops , I thought you were talking about classical guitar finger style method! :)

I hold the pic with only 2 fingers (index & thumb) like most guitarists do , I mainly use finger motion for picking and some wrist motion too ... I think using three fingers like James Hetfield would make it harder to use finger motion which is the most relaxed fast way of picking.

I've never tried "No Boundaries" , but I tried some parts from "Planet Gemini" , "Full Force" and "Speed Kills" video ... I can play "Serrana" and lots of Jason Becker's stuff too , he's more interesting than Michael Angelo.
I don't find any tabs for Michael Angelo anywhere , that's why I only figure out the nice parts instead of wasting my time to play the whole thing ... Does anyone know anywhere to get MA tabs from ?

Well, I am trying to learn it all the way through. I mean, i have the speed and i can play the arps, but some of the speed playing i cant seem to get to sound very smooth, so ill have to work on it for a while...

For MA tabs, just type in michael angelo. For "No Boundaries" just type that in with tab and the first entry will be a power tab file.
