The guitar - Fender Mexican Strat (mang)
the buzz - G string at the nut

what to do????? I've tried this silicone string lubricant (careful, don't get this stuff on the fretboard!) and that hasn't fixed anything. Has anyone dealt with this and what did you do to correct it? I'd like to fix this but I'm afraid of screwing it up and making it worse.

Thanks!!!!

I had the same problem on my Telecaster. I took the strings off and raised the saddle about 1/8th of a turn and it fixed the problem. No difference in playability with that little turn.

Hell some people like it when their nuts buzz...
No... Not me though.... really

So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

In all seriousness, get some Graphite 'lube' it's just a fine fine powder, try that straight into the nut. If that doesn't work mix a bit of graphite with a bit of vasoline and put it in there. This works great I had to do it to my e, b, and g string due to buzzing a few years ago, I just put the graphite in there straight and it's worked ever since. Oh my old guitar teacher used to tell me if you can't find the lube to just use a No. 2 pencil...it's the same stuff. Hope that helps

hi :)

one cause of buzzing at the nut is 'nut choke'. this occurs if your string gauge is bigger than the nut slot. fenders were set up to perform with .009s off the shelf. if your string gauge is thicker than this, then tell your tech to just file the nut to accomodate your current string gauge. hope this helps...

hahahahha thats funny!!!! no man whats wrong with it is that you have to go into that little rod...and if its just a little bent then you have to get a new neck! its a pain the the ass but you can make it work...if its not a very good guitar i would suggest getting a new one...and USE a guitar stand when you store it....if you lean it up against the wall it will eventually warp your neck and cause "buzzing". IF you take it to a shop, their going to cost you an arm and a leg.

Jeez, man, no need to appologise. This was as good as the time I misspelled Tune-o-matic during a discession of bridge types. We got into all kinds of stuff about automatic tuna??
