I need serious tips on how to play, and jam smoothly without screwing up.

Practice, Practice, Practice. Don't be afraid to critique yourself, play it over and over until you are happy with how and what you are playing. A mistake is human, but you should strive for perfection. Also, take a few lessons cause an instructor will help you will things you may be doing wrong or just having troubles with. Even if you have a friend who has been playing for awhile, ask him/her to help you out.

Smooth playing comes from your technique- not trying to hurry your fingers into position and thus playing erratically. I think the best tip to smooth playing is to relax. Try to leave your fingers in position until the last second and make them go into the new position i split second before you play the next note. I noticed i was hurrying difficult parts when i listened to myself back on ma 4 track.

Learn scales and modes.
Learn techniques like arpeggios, bends, slides,
tapping, drills, sweeping, hammerons/pulloffs etc.
Learn some tricks that you can smoothly add when jamming.
Practice.
