In Yngwie's video called Hot Licks, he does the example 9 Lick. This is very cool, but I donā€™t have the tabs for it. I looked on the Internet on this site, and most of the tabs are bogus there. I tried them out does not sound or look anywhere near what he does. I was wondering does anyone know the tablature for example 9?

I think it's called "pedal note" technique , you repeat one note and go down... Malmsteen do this one a lot with some variations.

I'll tab a small portion of it , I'm sure you can figure the rest but just make sure to slow down cuz this one gets realy tricky if you tried it up to speed from the first time.

e-13-12-13-10-13-8-13----13----13----13-----|
b---------------------12----10----9-----10--|
Tuned down half step to Eb (D#)

Copy and paste in a text file to view correctly.

Oh that - well he ripped that "trick" off bach (like most of his other tricks) - go check my toccata and fuge - it encapsulates alot of it (i did it with tapping, but it can be played without aswell if you alter the shape on the fretboard a bit. This "Organpoint" technique is one of the techniques used in counterpointed music - the name is derrived from organs with footmanuals (now that term is pretty sick *LOL*)- which are pretty much a keyboard for the feet (you can see that on hammond organs aswell) - where you hold a note whilst playing a melody on top of it.

-13-12-13-10-13-8-13--13--13--13-12-13-10-8-13-8-13--13--
--------------------12--10--9----------------------12----
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------

----13-------------17-15-17-13-17-12-17--17--17--15------
-10----9-12-10~~~~---------------------15--13--12--10-12-
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------

---10-12-13-12-10----------------------------------------
-13--------------13-12-9-10------------------------------
---------------------------9-----------------------------

Is there a bug in this forum? The "PS." msg I wrote came after the tab but ended up where you see it now.

...and another thing...the tab numbers that appear as a chord are not! treat them as separate notes...it's just this forum is buggy as hell

The 3rd row tab line the 9 on the 3rd string comes after 10 on the 2nd string.
I swear the tab was nice and neat while I wrote it untill it got submitted

I figured that lick out for the most part. I figured the keys and just found out what he was doing.

Now I need to know that one were he does the symetric A on example 4.

Again the tabs I found were not accurate. Does anyone now what scale pattern he is using?

I divided them into small pieces of four notes for you, to be easier to learn.

ok i believe that yngwie uses pedal tones but i wouldnt say he stole them from bach..u never know if there were pianist before that used pedal points and bach could have taken them..back then u could steal a song and say it was urs and they wouldnt do anything..i probly sound like a jackass..srry

Pedal tones don't make a good solo themselves, but a certain pedal tone line (like the second part of Bach's tocatta & fugue in Dm) is recognisable , so if somebody stole it we would all notice.
We all use unison bends and we don't even know who was the first to play them ... That's not theft.
