Seek out some Stevie Ray Vaughan, I bought a 4CD collection in the end, and it is truly inspirational stuff.

Stevie Ray Vaughn, definitely!
Robben Ford tears it up w/a modern/jazzy feel.
Buddy Guy writes a lot of great blues songs.
B.B. King, I prefer the later stuff, from the 90's on. Like a great jazz musician BB has gotten better w/time.

Rory Gallagher
and for something a bit different from what youd be offered here, try the White Stripes new record, I love it. Try some nu-blues aswell like Amor.

Check out the Jeff Healey Band. For a blind guy who plays the guitar in his lap, he kicks a$$!
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

Blues on the guitar is quite nice, but after listening to a lot of it, it all starts to sound the same to me. To get out of any ruts, I listen to the blues played on the piano. I always find inspiration (and some licks that are easy on piano, but really freakin hard on the guitar).
For example, try listening to some Oscar Peterson...

Thats not blues.....thats like heavy be-bop.
Great stuff, the guys fast, has lots of feel, adn tremendous endurance, just wish he'd he didn't have too moan into the mic when he played.

To "icecool", did you buy the 4cd with 1dvd set? I was going to get it, but didn't have enough cash at the time. The cheapest I have seen it is $150(canadian). Instead I bought "The Essentials"(SRV) A truly inspirational album.

Tele Master - Yeah man, with the DVD at the end. You definately should have got it, its such a good buy, it has like a story of his life in the middle of all of it as well (like a sort of book). Brilliant man.
It cost £30 over hear in Britain, not sure what the conversion rates are so I don't know if 130dollars is a lot! (was it that much you said? sorry, i cant remember, heh)

I'll say one thing and one thing only. Crossroads.
No not the movie with that big boobed slut, I mean the one with Ralph Macchio. Not only does it have the best modern delta blues i've heard in it (Done by Ry Cooder), you also get a perspective of what might of happened down at them crossroads 60 some years ago :)

My uncle knows Eric Johnson and he was talking to him and he was like man Craig(my uncle) I'm nothing. I have a friend who is 16 who can show me up anytime and I'm embarrased to play with him. I just thought that was crazy even though that isn't relevant because I love his stuff.

apart from the usual suspects try out Roy Buchanan. Like Danny Gatton he could also play in a number of other styles. Like Danny Gatton he also topped himself a while back. An amazing player and a Tele-master. Another telemaster's Albert Collins. any self-respecting blues fan should have some AC alongside his SRV, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters cds.
