I have a chance to get a late 80's Fender head and cabinet. 2X12 speakers,120Watts, $350 canadian. No buzzing at low volumes up to around 9 or 10 out of 12 volume. Good deal??I think so, just looking for some input.

I am not sureif the amp is tube or solid state. If it happens to be solid state whould I go for it? Even though I set out to get tube.

Ask him if its a tube amp. If its solid state, i wouldnt buy it, because i hate solid state. If he doesnt tell you, like inside the head or cabinet, the tubes should be eassily asscessible to see since replacement of tubes happen fairly often. Telemaster if your canadian and i know you are, look for a Traynor combo amp. Trust me, save up a little more and give it a try. Go to long and mcqaude and then get back to me. I bought a traynor custome valve 80 and it sounds amazing for only $855 brand new and there is a 40 watt version for $655. My amp has 4 output 6L6 tubes, the same style tubes as fender and 3 pre amp tubes for a total of 7 tubes, which is pretty damn good for the price. Its modelled after the Fender hot rod series, "Deville" but it sounds so much better factoring in the price. Plus it really performs with single coils so your tele will sound amazing, beleve me!

I will have to check into it because I really like the sounds of the Fenders. Everyone I've played sounds good, big or small. I am going to Long and McQuade this weekend so i will check them out.
